Ingredients
¼
cup
blackberries
(about 6 berries) (fresh or frozen, thawed)
1
ounce
lemon juice
1
ounce
simple syrup
3
ounces
club soda
as needed or preferred
garnishes as desired
a lemon twist or lemon slice, fresh blackberries, and/or herbs such as rosemary or mint
Instructions
In the shaker combine the blackberries, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
Muddle the berries into the liquids using a muddler or end of a spoon.
Add a scoop of ice and shake until very cold, approximately 30 seconds.
Strain into a glass filled with ice.
Top off with the club soda.
Garnish as desired with berries, lemon, or rosemary sprig.
Notes
A traditional bramble cocktail uses less simple syrup, but we are adding more here to balance out the tartness of the fresh fruit.
I like to use
Rosemary Simple Syrup
to bring the earthy flavor that gin would traditionally bring.
