Equipment

  • Small Pot
  • Measuring Cups
  • 8x8 baking dish
  • Knife
  • 3 Small Bowls
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces lemon gelatin
  • 3 ounces orange gelatin
  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (about 1/2 can)
  • 2 cups vodka citrus flavored vodka is best
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 envelopes unflavored gelatin can be found in a container or packets near the flavored gelatin (1 ounce total or 10 teaspoons total)

Instructions

  • Chill the vodka in the refrigerator.

White Layer

  • Put two cups of water in a small pot with two envelopes of unflavored gelatin (5 teaspoons, or 1/2 ounce). Let it soak for 2 minutes.
  • Heat the water and gelatin over low until completely dissolved, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Add the sweetened condensed milk (1/2 can) and stir to combine.
  • Pour the white mixture into your baking dish and chill until set, approximately 2 hours.

Orange Layer

  • When set, make the orange layer. Combine one cup of water with one unflavored gelatin packet and let soak 2 minutes.
  • Heat over low until dissolved, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Add the heated gelatin water to the orange powder in a small bowl and stir until dissolved. Add 1 cup of the vodka.
  • Make sure the orange is not hot (warm is fine) and pour it over the white layer. Chill again until set, approximately 2 hours.

Yellow Layer

  • When set, make the yellow layer. Combine one cup of water with one unflavored gelatin packet and let soak 2 minutes.
  • Heat over low until dissolved, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Add the heated gelatin water to the yellow powder in a small bowl and stir until dissolved. Add 1 cup of the vodka.
  • Make sure the yellow is not hot (warm is fine) and pour it over the orange layer. Chill again until set, approximately 2 hours.

Cutting the Gelatin

  • Once set, run some warm water around the edges and bottom of the dish to loosen the gelatin.
  • Put a cutting board on top of the dish and flip the whole thing over. The gelatin should slide out onto the cutting board. If it is still stuck, flip it back into the dish, and use some more warm water where it is stuck.
  • Cut the gelatin block into strips approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut each strip into triangle shapes.
  • Place the candy corn triangles on a dish or in a container and chill until ready to serve.

Notes

You can find unflavored gelatin packets in the baking section below or near the flavored gelatin. It is sold as a box with the envelopes inside.

You can substitute the vodka for water to make it non-alcoholic.
