What is a Margarita?
A margarita is a classic cocktail made with fresh lime juice, tequila, and triple sec. It can be served both on the rocks or blended into a smoothie. Traditionally served with a Salt rim.
The margarita has many claimed stories of it’s creation with a date anywhere between 1937-1953. It was first published in 1953 in esquire. The name could have come from any of the stories. Some claim it’s after a woman, others say it’s from daisy in Spanish.
- Triple Sec
- Lime Juice
- Margarita Glass
- Shaker Tin
- Hawthorne Strainer
- Grab margarita glass and salt rim
- Grab your shaker put ice in it.
- Put ingredients in and shake.
- Strain into glass.
You will need to add all these ingredients into a blender with some ice instead of shaking.
Mezcal is a great substitute liquor. It has a bit more flavor and will come through stronger then tequila.
You can, its bring even more of that orange flavor compared to the triple sec.
The Olive Twist
The juice and tequila blend perfectly in this cocktail. One of the most common ways to serve it is blended into a frozen margarita instead.
You can add any kind of fresh fruit juice to this recipe and it will taste amazing.
Mezcal is a great substitute for the tequila bringing a more intense flavor.
Using gold instead of silver tequila can bring a smokier sweet flavor as well.
- 1 Margarita Glass
- 1 Shaker
- 1 Strainer
- 4 ounces Tequila
- 2 ounces Triple Sec
- 2 ounces Lime Juice
- 1 ounce Salt
- Grab a Margarita glass and wet the rim.
- Roll the wet side of the rim in salt.
- Grab shaker and fill with ice.
- Add Tequila, Triple Sec, and Lime Juices.
- Shake until well chilled.
- Add ice to Margarita glass. Careful of the salt rim.
- Strain cocktail from shaker into glass.
