What is a Brandy Alexander?
Brandy Alexander is a classic cocktail that has Cognac (Brandy) at the front with dark creme de cacao and cream to smooth it out. It is usually served in a coup glass.
Origins
I’m a huge fan of eggnog and figured mixing it into a classic cocktail would be amazing. The creamy heavy texture of the eggnog with sweet flavor mixing with brandy is just heaven. Topping it off with just a bit of peppermint as a surprise really elevates this drink.

Can this drink be served warm?
Traditionally brandy is served at room temperature. This drink is designed to be served chilled but can also be just as good warm in a mug.
Originally brandy was the liquor mixed with eggnog. Modern times have seen rum be the more standard choice.
Brandy can be changed out for rum with this drink. It will bring out a sweeter cocktail.

The Olive Twist
Overall this cocktail has a good balance. If you’d like to have the peppermint shine more you can increase the schnapps but I would decrease the brandy as well. If you really like the cinnamon flavor a fun trick is to use a cinnamon stick as a straw. If brandy isn’t your thing you can always swap in whiskey.

Ingredients
- 4 ounces Eggnog
- 2 ounces Spiced Rum
- 2 ounces Brandy
- 1 ounce Peppermint Schnapps
- 1/2 ounce Cinnamon Simple Syrup
Instructions
- Fill shaker with ice.
- Add Eggnog, Rum, Brandy, Schnapps, and Simple Syrup.
- Shake until well chilled.
- Strain into glass.
