What is a Toasty?
A toasty is a cocktail that is heated instead of the traditional cold. This is an Apple Cider Bourbon Cocktail with a twist adding in some sweet maple liquor and cinnamon.
Origins
I’m a big fan of the warm cider cocktails. I decided to add the maple and cinnamon flavors to give a spicy sweet combo to lift this cocktail up a level.

FAQ
What alcohol goes best with apple cider?
Is apple cider better with rum or whiskey?
Bourbon is my preferred choice but any whiskey can be used. Rum is also another option that will bring sweeter flavors to the front.
Can I serve this on the rocks?
This drink can be good cold though I prefer it warm as it adds to the “heat” it’s bringing.
If you are serving it warm a mug is traditional but as long as the glass is microwave/heat safe it will work. If serving cold I would recommend a coup glass.
The Olive Twist
The apple and cinnamon flavors really shine in this cocktail. The maple liquor cuts the spice a bit with some sweet flavor. If you wanted to swap out whiskey for rum you’d accentuate the sweetness. If you want a bit more apple bringing an apple liqueur or cut all that sweetness with a cranberry liqueur.

Ingredients
- 2 oz Bourbon
- 2 oz Apple Cider
- 1/2 oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup
- 1/2 oz Maple Liquor
Instructions
- Grab a microwave safe mug.
- Pour Bourbon, Simple Syrup, Maple Liquor, and Apple Cider in mug.
- Use bar spoon to stir until mixed.
- Put in microwave or heat on stove until hot.
- Take a sip.
