Let’s talk about what you need to make this fresh watermelon martini recipe!
Watermelon Puree – also called fresh watermelon juice. You can easily made your own homemade watermelon puree made in a food processor or blender! I recommend straining it with a fine mesh strainer to get rid of the pulp – unless you like pulp in your drinks! It is easiest to make watermelon juice with seedless watermelon.
Vodka – I love using a citrus vodka!
Triple Sec – an orange liqueur. Grand Marnier also works.
Lime Juice – fresh lime juice is best. You could also use fresh lemon juice
I find this mixture for a vodka cocktail to be perfect as is with the natural sweetness from the juicy watermelon but if you like sweeter drinks, I would recommend adding 1/2 to 1 ounce of simple syrup as well.
Shake the fresh watermelon juice and everything else together in a cocktail shaker with a scoop of ice until very cold.
Strain into a chilled martini glass with a piece of watermelon wedge as a garnish.
FAQs
Watermelon goes best with a neutral liquor such as vodka, rum, or gin. You can also use a flavored vodka that compliments the watermelon such as a citrus flavor.
