Let’s talk about the simple ingredients you need to make these Halloween Jello shots!

Green Jello – Lime jello is the easiest green color to find. You could also go for the Sour Apple variety that is out there for something fun!

The quantity of water needed can vary with each brand and size of gelatin, so if using a different package, swap out half of the cold water for the vodka. Leave the same amount of boiling water.

Vodka – the classic for a Jello shot, but you can use any liquor as desired. I recommend keeping it a clear liquor so that the color does not interfere with the Jello color.

Gummy Body Parts– These are a crucial element for embalming fluid effect!

Water – To dissolve the Jello.

These are also best served in small plastic cups!

Instruction Overview

Melt your gelatin powder with the boiling water.

The quantity of water needed can vary with each brand and size of gelatin, so if using a different brand, swap out half of whatever cold water they call for, for the vodka. Leave the same amount of boiling water as they say for their package.

Mix the warm gelatin with the vodka and cold water mixture, pour, and chill.

About 30-45 minutes into chilling, add the gummy body parts. We do this later because when it is starting to set, it is easier to get the gummy candies to stay where you want them.

These Jello shots are perfect made and served in the classic small plastic cups.

Chill until fully set and ready to serve.

The shots are best within 24 hours, but can last up to 3 days. If the worms are in the shots, they will continue to get softer over time.

How to Make Jello Shots Without Alcohol

If you want to make these Jello Shots without alcohol as a virgin option, simply substitute the vodka for more water.

You will lose the caramel flavor from the vodka, but it will still be delicious and taste like apple!

Kim’s Tips

Some people are not a fan of the contrast of different gelatin consistencies between the candies and the shot itself. If they do not like it, they can remove the gummy candy before eating.

Different Jello brands and options have different liquid measurements on their box. The golden rule to make it a Jello shot is to replace HALF of the COLD liquid with liquor. Everything else stays the same.

Easily make these non-alcoholic by using all water and no alcohol.
